The Biodiversity Stewardship mechanism is increasingly becoming the key mechanism used to expand the conservation estate and protected area network. With more and more organisations being involved in the implementation of the Biodiversity Stewardship mechanism, it is vital that all stakeholders have a common understanding of the processes involved, in order to create consistency of application between the provinces and agencies. This session invites stakeholders to participate in discussions regarding i) the challenges facing the implementation of Biodiversity Stewardship, ii) the lessons learnt from implementing the various Biodiversity Stewardship categories, iii) and discussions regarding potential and viable benefits and incentives for landowners to enter Biodiversity Stewardship arrangements. This session will be hosted by members of the Biodiversity Stewardship Technical Working Group.
